Sad News

On Wednesday June 25, 2014 we were saddened to learn that Leslie Lundberg, a longtime friend of the Belmont Dramatic Club, had passed away. Leslie had been a member for some 35 years, during which time she had many roles including President (1981-83), archivist, producer, ticket chairperson, and working backstage with props, lighting and make-up. She had appeared in numerous BDC productions including Major Barbara, Pfeifer's People, Thurber's Carnival, and Jake's Women, for which she won an EMACT acting award for her role as Edith. Her last appearance was as Mrs. Van Dam in our October 2002 production of The Diary of Anne Frank. At that time Leslie said that her favorite roles included Beatrice in Lovers and Other Strangers (1980), and Julia Gibbs in Our Town (2000). Leslie will be sadly missed for her generosity and many accomplishments.

On Friday June 13, 2014 we were saddened to learn that Chandler Bingham, a longtime friend and supporter of the Belmont Dramatic Club, had passed away.

On Saturday, November 23, 2013 our beloved longtime Corresponding Secretary Willa Wye Rockett passed away.

Back in July we celebrated her 100th birthday with a wonderful party at the Belmont Manor Nursing Home. Many of us wore purple to honor our “Lilac Lady.”

We will all miss her terribly, and we celebrate her life, her accomplishments, and her spirit!
